Hello Relatives! My name is Marquel Begay and I am a proud member of the Diné (Navajo Nation). I am a Sloan scholar and PhD student in the Ecology, Management, and Restoration of Rangelands program at the University of Arizona School of Natural Resources and the Environment. I am a part of the Gornish Lab. My research and work focuses on ecological restoration, Indigenous knowledge, and food/water sovereignty for the Navajo Nation. I am passionate in serving and protecting my Diné People and our sacred ancestral homelands for the future generations to come.
